Guide
FiveM does nothing when you open it, or shows for a second and vanishes? How to fix it
If nothing shows when you open FiveM, no crash window and no message, check these in order. The one many players don't know: UAC set all the way to Off stops FiveM from opening at all.
FiveM still stuck in the background
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager. Find everything whose name starts with FiveM, like FiveM_GTAProcess, and End task on all of them. Then open FiveM again. If the last run did not close properly, a new one will not open.
UAC must not be off
- Press Start, type Change User Account Control settings and open it.
- If the slider is at the bottom (Never notify), move it up to the default, Notify me only when apps try to make changes to my computer.
- Press OK and restart the PC.
UAC fully off does not make the PC faster. It lets programs get admin rights without asking, and FiveM, Store apps and some Windows apps stop opening. Some tweak packs set it this way.
The Rockstar Games Launcher must be there
FiveM uses the Rockstar Games Launcher to check that you own GTA V. If it is missing or only partly installed, get it from rockstargames.com/downloads and install it again, then start GTA V story mode once before opening FiveM.
It shows for a second, then vanishes
If the FiveM window shows and closes by itself, or says early exit trap, it is mostly Steam's beta or a program that hooks into the game. See the early exit trap guide. If a crash window shows, see the FiveM crash guide.
Clear FiveM's cache
Still not opening? Clear FiveM's cache as the guide on clearing it shows. Keep the cache\game folder, and don't delete the whole FiveM.app folder.
Let Savenz Optimizer help
Savenz Optimizer never turns UAC off by default, and when you set UAC to Off it warns that FiveM will stop opening. If another program set it, Safety repair puts Windows' UAC values back. The FiveM page has Rockstar check for the launcher and Social Club, and Cleaner clears FiveM's cache. Still won't open? Ask in the Discord.
