HAGS (Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling): on or off?

HAGS lets the graphics card schedule its own work instead of Windows. Results differ per game. Savenz recommends it off for FiveM and on for other games.

Updated 15 Oct 2026

Why off for FiveM

When FiveM crashes because the graphics card or its driver stopped, the crash helper in Savenz Optimizer has turning HAGS off and restarting as one of the first steps. SavenzOS turns HAGS off too.

Switch it in Windows

  1. Open Settings, then System > Display > Graphics.
  2. Open the default graphics settings. The button name depends on the Windows version, such as Default graphics settings or Change default graphics settings.
  3. Turn Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling on or off.
  4. Restart the PC. The change works after the restart.

In Savenz Optimizer

The GPU page shows whether HAGS is on and switches it off even when Windows or the graphics driver turned it on. Like every setting, it can be undone.

Measure it yourself

Every PC and every game is different. Measure with Result Card with HAGS on and off, look at average FPS, 1% low and stutters, and keep what works better on your PC.
