Should Game Bar and Game Mode be off, and what about Ryzen X3D?

Windows comes with Game Bar, background recording and Game Mode on. Savenz presets turn all of them off, unless you record clips with Game Bar.

Game Bar and background recording

Game Bar is the overlay that opens with Win+G, with background recording (Game DVR). Savenz Optimizer turns off Game DVR recording, opening Game Bar with the Xbox button, and the startup tips.

If you record clips with Game Bar, tick it on the Services page and the program keeps it.

Game Mode

Game Mode changes how Windows manages things when a game starts. Savenz Optimizer has a Game Mode off switch that stops Windows switching to Game Mode when a game starts. Savenz presets and SavenzOS turn it off. Results differ per PC, so measure with Result Card.

Ryzen X3D with two CCDs

On CPUs like the Ryzen 9 7950X3D and 9950X3D, AMD's driver uses Game Bar to tell a game is running, then parks the second CCD so the game stays on the 3D V Cache.

The Savenz way is to lock the game to the V Cache CCD on the .EXE page of Savenz Optimizer instead, so Game Bar and Game Mode can be off. Keep AMD Chipset Drivers installed too.

Turn them off yourself in Windows

  1. Open Settings, then Gaming.
  2. Game Bar: turn off opening it with a controller.
  3. Captures: turn off background recording.
  4. Game Mode: off.

Everything Savenz Optimizer turns off keeps its old value and can be undone one by one.
