FiveM stuck on Connecting to Rockstar Games Services: how to fix it
FiveM lets the Rockstar Games Launcher check GTA V every time. If that step fails, the game stays on Connecting to Rockstar Games Services. Most of the time you can fix it yourself in a few minutes.
Check in this order
- The Rockstar Games Launcher and Social Club must both be installed. If one is missing, get the installer again from rockstargames.com/downloads and install over it.
- Is your Documents folder in OneDrive? The launcher often fails to load from there. In OneDrive's settings open Sync and backup, then Manage backup, and turn Documents off.
- The Rockstar Games Library Service must not be turned off. In Services, double click it, set Startup type to Manual and press Start.
- The PC clock must be right. More than 2 minutes off and the Rockstar sign in fails. Turn Windows Time on and sync the clock.
- The hosts file must have no line for Rockstar. If it has one, reset the hosts file to Windows' own.
- If a proxy is on and you did not set it up, turn it off. The launcher can time out through it.
- Check Rockstar's service status page. If their servers are fine, try another DNS.
- Read the last error in the launcher's log and bring that line to the Discord. It finds the cause much faster.
Still stuck?
- Close the game and the launcher completely, then start FiveM again.
- Restart the PC after changing the clock or a service.
- Some antivirus programs block the launcher. Add the launcher as an exception.
Let Savenz Optimizer check it
The FiveM page of Savenz Optimizer has a Rockstar check that looks at all 8 points above at once. It only reads, changes nothing, and tells you which one to fix. It is free, no key needed.
